Creating a website is definitely a big undertaking. There are so many different elements to consider and so many moving pieces! When I wanted to create one for Julie Wilhite Education, I immediately knew that I didn’t want to do it alone. I also knew I didn’t want it to take ten years to create a website or really even 1 year. I wanted the process to be quick + dirty. But you know me, I wasn’t willing to sacrifice the overall prettiness or making sure that my copy was getting my true message across, so I invested in both of those items!

And friends, investing in things you are not in your zone of genius is a huge game-changer in your business! I know that if I did this all on my own, I would still be picking what colors to use. Instead, I have an incredible site filled with so many resources for you to use, and it all came together even better than I imagined. I wanted to share with you the top 3 sessions I learned from creating this site – so grab a cup of coffee, and let’s dive in!

Hire Someone To Build It

I found it WAY LESS painful since I made the decision to hire Ava & the Bee to help me pick a website template + populate all of my information. I knew I had made the right decision when I received an email with suggested website templates that Adrienna felt complimented my branding. That research would have taken me hours, maybe even weeks. She just made everything so easy. I will never do a website any other way again. #truthtalk here. Websites are a lot of work. They take a lot of heart + concentration + hours of work no matter how you do it, but having someone help me took 70% of the work off my shoulders. I want to shout it from the rooftops – DON’T DO IT ALONE!

Hire a Copywriter

The second best decision I made was hiring a copywriter. Leanne was a gem to work with – quick on her feet and just a generally fun person to talk with, she really dove in deep to who I am and who I love to work with to make sure that my copy was ME but also spoke to those unicorn clients I am looking for. For me, writing takes a herculean effort, so having someone help me with this was 1000% worth it. If something is not in your genius zone, if it doesn’t light you up to do it, then get HELP, my friend. The moment I learned this in my business, my work + life improved greatly. Don’t wait as long as I did!

Have Images of Yourself That You Love

Have photos you love of yourself at the ready. I do an annual brand shoot of myself and this saved me a million times over as I was creating a website. Having images where you feel like you look like YOU and are proud to share, is so important! I also love to do this for other creatives + photographers, so let me know if you need to do this too!

The Team Behind Creating My Website

Ava And The Bee – Adrienna helped me pick the best template, and did a full setup in Showit. She also created graphics as needed and full SEO keyword research.

Leanne Summers – Leanne helped turn my ideas into beautiful copy, which was ME but also spoke to those unicorn clients I am looking for.

Davey and Krista – Their website templates are so gorgeous, and when I saw Barcelona, I knew with a few tweaks it would be perfect!

Showit – I made the jump to Showit, and I am so glad I did. It’s such an easy to layout platform, plus you get the power of a WordPress blog!

Levi Hanusch – Levi did my opening video, and it turned out perfect!

Janeane Marie Photography – My talented friend behind many of the images you see of me on the website.

Jenna McElroy – The other talented friend who captured some of the beautiful images of me on the website.
