I always dreamed of being a wedding photographer, but I never thought I could make any money. A chance meeting with a very successful photographer convinced me I could, and Julie Wilhite Photography was born in 2008. I was working a soul zapping day job, building my business in all the spare time, doing “all the things” and was soon making a lot of money. My husband jokes he saw more of the back of my head than he saw me in those days because I was always at my desk.
Family has always been the cornerstone of my life. I always believed I’d marry a wonderful man and have gorgeous children to fill me with joy and gratitude. Imagine my shock, when I decided I was ready to start a family and my husband thought it impossible because I was so busy with the business? Every truth I’d known was crushed.
It was time to re-focus + re-evaluate my business + my life + transform my business so it could bloom and thrive + maintain a steady 6-figure income. I stopped listening to the noise + did it my way. I’m a wife, baby-snuggler and travel-obsessed wedding photographer that adores capturing love stories for a living. I am based out of Austin, TX but I pretty much use my job as an excuse to travel the world. On any given day, you can find me making lots of coffee, eating breakfast tacos with my son, headed to the farmer’s market or enjoying the outdoors. And if I get to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening? My day was perfect.
On days that I’m not photographing or coaching, I enjoy editing (with coffee in hand) in my sunny office, which I share with my husband and two cats (no really, they think the middle of our desk is their bed). I’m always in search of my next travel adventure, I try not to take myself too seriously and whole-heartedly believe that family is everything.
